Tuesday’s District 1 girls’ highlights: Upper Dublin edges North Penn, 9-8, in final seconds

Shelby Kenny scored with 11 seconds to play Tuesday, lifting Upper Dublin to a thrilling 9-8 win over host North Penn in a first-round District 1 playoff game.

The 18th-seeded Cardinals advance to play Thursday (7:30 p.m.) at second-seeded Great Valley.

The 15th-seeded Maidens had taken an 8-7 lead but Kayla McAneney (four goals, two assists) tied it with 24 seconds remaining. Rachel DiFrangia (one goal, one assist) then led a fast break and dished to Kenny for the game-winner.

Sarah Gallagher made 15 saves for the Cards.

Lauren Green scored give goals to lead the Maidens.

Pennsbury 17, Owen J. Roberts 10

Kelsy Gumbert collected five goals and four assists and Jackie Sweeney had four goals while Missy Frankil added three goals and three assists and Carson Smith had three goals and an assist to pace the 19th-seeded Falcons.

Jordyn Shoemaker had two goals and three assists for OJR.

Merion Mercy 14, Downingtown West 10

Olivia Nostrant scored six goals to lead the Bears to the victory.

Mount St. Joseph 20, Central Bucks West 10

Olivia Gannon had seven goals and two assists and Emilee Rhret added three goals and seven assists while MK Maloney had four goals and one assist to pace the Mount.

Conestoga 19, Lower Merion 4

Meghan McGillis collected four goals and five assists and Caoie Smith had three goals and three assists to pace the Pioneers to the easy win.
