Tuesday’s girls’ HS highlights: Pansini goal lifts Agnes Irwin; Unionville coach Landry earns 100th win

Freshman Laura Pansini fired in the game-winner on a free position shot with 31 seconds left Tuesday as Agnes Irwin defeated host Notre Dame 17-16 in an Inter-Ac League girls’ lacrosse game.

Hannah Keating had seven goals and six draw controls and Pansini contributed four goals for the Owls (8-7, 4-5). Kristin Burnetta also scored four goals and junior captain Bridget Chakey had five assists.

The Agnes Irwin defense of Sarah Platt, Kate White, Elizabeth Spitz, and Morgan Pergolini was steady and goalie Caroline Roncalli had four key saves in the second half to earn the win.

“The girls played with ice in their veins,” said AI coach Jen Duckenfield.

Nora McCallion led Notre Dame (9-7, 6-4) with four goals and an assist and Courtney Donovan scored four goals while Delaney Tuite had three goals and an assist.

Unionville 10, Downingtown East 9

Annabeth Donovan collected six goals and two assists to help Indians (12-5, 7-3) coach Wendy Landry post her 100th career win with the big Ches-Mont League victory.

Nicole Barretta led Downingtown East (10-6, 6-4) with five goals and an assist.

PAC-10 semifinals

Boyertown 17, Pottstown 3
Owen J. Roberst 21, Phoenixville 10

Nine-time defending PAC-10 champion Boyertown got six goals from Haley Wentzel, fur goals and an assist from Rachel Engler and three goals and two assists from Alex O’Herrick to earn the ticket to the championship game.

The Trojans got two goals from Sydney Sanford.

Boyertown (16-2) will meet the No. 2 seed from the Liberty Division, Owen J. Roberts, Thursday night at Phoenixville (6 p.m.).

Devin Hassinger erupted for eight goals and Kerry Huzzard had three goals and four assists to lead OJR (16-3).

Ellie Delany paced the Phantoms (10-8) with five goals.
