Wissahickon senior Laura Frankenfield broke the school record with her 269th career tally and finished with four goals and three assists Friday as the host Trojans defeated Pennsbury, 11-5, in a non-league girls’ lacrosse game.

Frankenfield scored her 67th goal of the season to break the mark set by Chelsea Rosiek, last year’s Wissahickon coach and a former Temple great.

“It means a lot to me to break this record especially knowing the history of Wissahickon lacrosse,” said Frankenfield, who has signed with Boston College. “Obviously, Chelsea was an amazing player and as a girl who had seen her play when she was at the high school it’s really cool to know that the player I aspired to be when I was growing up is what I was able to become. And knowing that Chelsea helped me become that player is even cooler.

“I attribute this success mostly to the coaching and support got from my freshman year onward. All my coaches have supported me and taught me so much throughout the years and I know that without them this accomplishment couldn’t have been possible.

Frankenfield said she is honored to hold a record at a school that has a rich lacrosse tradition.

“My dad went to Wissahickon high school and for as long as I’ve been playing lacrosse he has told me about the Williams sisters, Julie and Betsy, who played at Wissahickon and went on to play at UVA and Penn State, respectively,” she said. “They were inducted into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame and it gives me great pride to be able to be a part of such a long standing program that has a history of amazing players and women.”

Zoe Gomez added four goals, one assist and three ground balls, and Lauren Irvine had two goals for the Trojans, who improved to 11-4.

Taylor Myers closed out the Wissahickon scoring with one goal. Sophomore goalie Julie Silverman turned away seven of the 12 shots she faced.

The Trojans took a 5-4 lead into halftime but then outscored the Falcons (10-3) 6-1 in the second half.

Frankenfield also has 121 career assists for 390 points. She had 82 goals last year.

“Laura is a remarkably talented lacrosse player, undoubtedly the best to ever play at Wissahickon,” said Trojans coach David Schlesinger. “But she is an even better person and leader.

“I envy (coach) Acacia Walker at BC, as she gets to coach Laura for four years and I only got to coach her for one. She’s a very special student-athlete.”
