Pansini & Mezrow and Phillylacrosse.com congratulate this week’s honorees for the Pansini & Mezrow Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Each winner receives a $50 gift certificate to Starbuck’s. Overall male and female winners at the end of the season will receive a large cash prize.

Girls’ HonoreesHonor roll

Marley Sternberg, Germantown Academy, Junior Defender

Community Service projects: Math, Biology, English tutor/ collected soccer equipment for children in Guatemala, Patriot Ambassador

Academic honors: GPA of 4.45

Lacrosse Accomplishments: Most improved freshmen, Philly Showcase All Star 2011, All Montgomery County Honorable Mention 2012, Inside Lacrosse Player to Watch from 2012 President’s cup tournament,

Academic honors: Honor Roll all 4 years, Received Academic scholarship to UD, GPA of 4.4

Lacrosse Accomplishments: Team captain, 1st team All Blue Hen Conference 2012, AIHS Defensive Player of the year 2012, Gail Marinelli Best All Around player 2012, Honorable Mention All Conference 2011, AIHS Midfielder of the year 2011, AIHS 2010 Hustle Award Recipient

Boys Honorees

Jonathan Vandenberg, Garnet Valley, Senior Midfielder (signed with Furman University)

Academic Honors: Ranked 14th in class out of 368 students, 3.76 GPA (unweighted) 5.234 (weighted); AP Scholar recognition with a total of 8 AP courses in high school; PHEAA award for top achieving students in the state of Pennsylvania; President of National Honor Society; Ambassador Award-Winner at Garnet Valley for football, basketball, and lacrosse. Award is presented to an athlete who demonstrates a commitment to athletics, giving service to the community while serving as a role model to his peers.

Service projects: Overall Chair for Student Council Dance Marathon junior and senior years. Fund Raising Chair as a sophomore, Raised $44,000 so far with a goal of an additional $25,000 for the Dance Marathon scheduled for this April 2013, US President’s National Volunteer Service Award-Gold Level

School activities: Student Council all four years, class representative, Canned Food Drive, Mock Election, Blood Drive; Interact Club for Community Service,

Other sports: Basketball – 3 year Varsity Starter, Team Captain senior year, Honorable Mention-All Delco (2 yrs.), Honorable Mention Central League (2 yrs.),All Tournament Award, Delaware County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award.

Lacrosse accomplishments: Three year varsity starter, team captain in senior year, Nike Blue Chip Camp selection in 2012.
