Matt Borchert scored three goals and Tommy McDermott made 11 saves as host Ridley outscored Garnet Valley, 5-1, in the final period and earned a key 7-3 Central league boys’ lacrosse victory Tuesday night.
The win kept the Green Raiders (10-2) in a tie for first place in the Central League (6-1) with Radnor. Garnet Valley slipped to 5-2 in the league (7-4) overall.
“Our guys played lacrosse like you need to do in a key Central League game,” said Ridley coach Kevin Ellers.
“Matt Borchert is a shooter and can let it loose. That got us in a groove. He has improved and is a catalyst; he has stepped up to the plate for us.”
Kelton Heverly added two goals for the Raiders while Dalton George and Mike Crowley each had a goal and an assist.
“Our next opponent is Springfield-Delco – that’s another war in the Central League,” said Ellers.
Brock D’Annunzio led the Jags with two goals.
