Phillylacrosse.com Boys’ Rankings: La Salle holds on to No. 1; Malvern moves up to No. 2

Bad weather postponed nearly all the action Monday. Today’s big game is No. 4 Conestoga hosting No. 8 St. Joseph’s Prep at 3:15 p.m.

1. La Salle (1-0) Prev: No. 1 – The Explorers play at defending national champion Garden City (NY) on Saturday for a major early-season test.

2. Malvern Prep (2-0) Prev: No. 6 – The Friars are off to a standout start under new (and former) coach John McEvoy.

3. Radnor (1-0) Prev: No. 4 – The Red Raiders could not have started off better than the comeback win Friday at Episcopal Academy.

4. Conestoga (0-0) Prev: No. 3 – The three-time defending state champion Pioneers host St. Joseph’s Prep today at 3:15 p.m. in their opener. Thursday they host MIAA power Calvert Hall.

5. Penn Charter (2-3) Prev: NR – The Quakers have captured the attention of the whole lacrosse world after taking down nationally-ranked Landon School (Md.) and St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes (Va.) in a memorable three-day period.

6. Haverford School (1-3) Prev: No. 2 – The Fords shucked off a tough start against great competition by defeating McDonogh (MD) on the road.

7. Episcopal Academy (1-3) Prev: No. 5 – The Churchmen look to rebound Thursday vs. Downingtown East after several tough losses to top teams.

8. St. Joseph’s Prep (1-0) Prev: No. 7 – The Hawks won a scintillating 10-9 OT game over Downingtown East in their opener.

9. Ridley (1-0) Prev: No. 8 – The Green Raiders play at No. 12 Abington today in an intriguing matchup.

10. Great Valley (1-0) Prev: No. 9 – The Pats are a clear Ches-Mont League favorite.

11. Salesianum School (0-0) Prev: No. 10 – The Sals will shoot for more than just a third state title this year as they look for national attention.

12. Abington (1-0) Prev: NR- The Ghosts defeated Downingtown West, 9-6, in an impressive debut under new coach Joe Staerk.

13. Manheim Township (1-0) Prev: NR – The Blue Streaks opened with an impressive 7-4 triumph over Garnet Valley.

14. Moorestown (0-0) Prev: No. 14 – The Quakers open April 1 at No. 15 St. Augustine Prep.
