Phillylacrosse.com Editor Chris Goldberg is here at PPL Park under bright skies for the second game of the Whitman’s Sampler Independence Classic. Penn (3-1) is ranked No. 18 while the Wildcats are 1-3.

1st quarter

V- Max Hart drills one home to give ‘Cats a 1-0 lead, :50
P – Zack Losco gets 6th goal of the year, (unassisted), tied 1-1
P – Nick Doktor scores seconds later on a fast break (Tim Schwalje), 3:20 – Penn up 2-1
V – Chris Piccirilli scores his first of the year, unassisted, 4:20, game tied 2-2
V – Jack Rice puts ‘Cats up 3-2 with a blast from Nick Doherty, 6:20
V – Hart scores again, 8:25
P – Danny Feeney gets Quakers within, 4-3, 8:31
V – Hart gets his 3rd, 10:22

2nd quarter
P – Drew Belinsky makes it 5-4, :32
P – Losco delivers, 5-5, :45 –
V – Rice makes it 6-5 Nova, 2:32
V – Hart scores his fourth of the game, unassisted, ‘Cats lead high-scoring affair, 7-5, 5:03
P – Doktor draws Quakers within, 7-6, – Schwalje assisted, 6:14
P – Losco ties it with his 3rd of game, 8:24 – 7-7 game

Half ends 7-7

2nd Half

V – Rice gets his 3rd from Tim Mulrenen on a nifty EMO goal, 3:02 – Nova up 8-7
P – Isaac Bock unassisted, 3:53 – game tied again
P – Bock scores again unassisted, 7:43, Quakers take 9-8 lead, their first of the game.
P – Fast break goal for Doktor from Chris Moriarty, 10:53, now Penn 10-8
V – Great Valley grad Eric Gartner blasts home a goal from way out to make it 10-9, 12:59

4th period

P – Bock gets his third of the game, unassisted, 1:59 – Penn leads, 11-9
P – Belinsky scores unassisted, 8:14 – Penn pulling ahead, 12-9
P – Schwalje scores unassisted at 13:36, game is pretty much over, 13-9

Game is over as Penn claims 13-9 win to improve to 4-1. Villanova scores only two goals in the final two periods and 10 minutes of play
