From Press Release

The Drexel women’s lacrosse team scored its first win over Penn since 1993, upsetting the No. 11 Penn Quakers today at Franklin Field, 11-8.

Drexel held a 5-2 lead at half, and tallied six more points in the final 30 minutes of play to defeat Penn for only the second time in program history. Kelli Joran (Downingtown East) and Kelly Palace each scored three goals in the win. The Dragons are now 3-0, which marks the best start since 2010.

Drexel led most of the way, pulling ahead 9-5 in the second half, only to see the Quakers (0-1) draw within 9-8 with 6:59 left on the second goal by Tory Bensen.

The Dragons iced it on goals by Jessica Rudloff (West Chester East) and Joelle Harke.

Rudloff recorded two goals and an assist and Amanda Norcini (Conestoga) and Alyse Maiden (Washington Township) each scored once.

Joran also led the squad with three draw control wins and two caused turnovers. Sophomore goalkeeper Teresha Bradley (Rancocas Valley) turned away five shots.

Maddie Poplawski (Springfield-Delco) had two goals and an assist to lead Penn. Freshman Iris Williamson (Germantown Friends) scored once.
