Senior Addie Godfrey (Hun School) tied a career high with six goals to help the Lafayette women’s lacrosse team outlast visiting Central Connecticut State University, 11-10, on Friday evening inside Fisher Stadium. Lafayette improves to 2-0 on the season, while the Blue Devils fell to 0-1 in their opener.
Godfrey’s six goals give her a team-leading eight this season. Junior Ana White (Strath Haven) netted a goal and two assists to go with her four draw controls, while senior Jessica Rothstein (Harriton), junior Laura Kleiber and freshman Carlianne McCabe (Notre Dame) all contributed a goal and an assist each. Senior captain Cammie Linville (Princeton Day) also picked up a goal for the Leopards.
McCabe led the Leopards in ground balls with five, and tied for the team-high in caused turnovers (2) with Godfrey and Rothstein. Sophomore goalkeeper Mimi Connell (Paoli native) replaced junior Meghan Curtin (Penn Charter) midway through the first half making six saves on her way to her first victory of the season.
Florida 11, Northwestern 8
Emily Garrity (Strath Haven) had two assists, three groundballs and a caused turnover while Margaret Corzel (merion mercy) had two caused turnovers and a groundball and Kelly Devlin (Downingtown East) was a key on defense as the Tar Heels (3-1) knocked off the No. 1 Wildcats at Chapel Hill.
Navy 15, High Point 6
Kathy Young (Villa Maria Academy) had three goals, three groundballs and six draw controls while Aimee Gennaro (Archbishop Carroll) had two goals and an assist to lead the Mids’ attack. Lindsay Rheiner (Council Rock North) had three groundballs and a caused turnover and Beth Young (Villa Maria Academy) had two groundballs and two draw controls to lead the defense.
