Times, sites are announced for 13th annual Katie Samson Festival

The times and sites have been released for the 13th Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival, which will be held April 27 at Radnor High.

The event – which has raised more than $1 million for spinal cord research and development – will feature 14 girls’ games, 13 boys’ games and the first college game ever held in the tourney.

The college game will feature Penn and Bellarmine. The contest is the final regular season game for Penn and will be played at 5:30 p.m.

Some of the more noteworthy boys’ pairings include: La Salle (state runner-up in 2012) vs. Haverford School (2011 national champion), Conestoga (three-time defending state champion) vs. Downingtown East (Ches-Mont runner-up in 2012), Radnor (state semifinalist in 2012) vs. Downingtown West (district semifinalist in 2012), Episcopal Academy (Inter-Ac Invitational champion in 2012) vs. Lawrenceville (Inter-Ac semifinalist in 2012), and Garnet Valley (District 1 runner-up in 2012) vs. St. Augustine Prep (NJ Group A semifinalist).

Top girls’ matchups include: Strath Haven (state runner-up in 2012) vs. Episcopal Academy (eight-time defending Inter-Ac champion), Radnor (District 1 champion in 2012) vs. Notre Dame Academy (Inter-Ac co-champion in 2012), Conestoga (District 1 runner-up in 2012) vs. Archbishop Carroll (12-time Catholic League defending champion, Garnet Valley (two-time defending state champion) vs. Mt. St. Joseph’s Academy and Harriton (state quarterfinalist in 2012) vs. Great Valley (undefeated regular season in 2012).
