Six months after breaking ground on a five-story residence hall for its growing student population, IMG Academy has announced it is breaking ground on a state-of-the-art athletic facility.
IMG Academy’s lacrosse team, as well as its inaugural football team, will compete in the new facility in the fall 2013. The announcement comes on the heels of the lacrosse team unveiling its new Under Armour uniforms.
The 5,000-seat facility will be outfitted with lights, scoreboard and video board, a state-of-the-art press box, and a 400m track. The field will be able to accommodate multiple sports including lacrosse, football, track and field, and soccer. The second floor will have numerous meeting areas, including a large stadium-style meeting room, as well as coaches’ offices for lacrosse, football and baseball.
The neighboring field house will have locker rooms for lacrosse, football and baseball, along with an equipment room, training rooms and laundry facilities. Additional space will be allocated for IMG Academy’s sports performance partners.
The facility is part of a long-term campus development plan that will include new academic buildings, residence halls, playing surfaces, and areas for athletic and personal development.
