Spring-Ford junior midfielder Kira Gensler has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Temple University.

Kira Gensler log:

Kira Gensler

High school: Spring-Ford High School

Graduation year: 2014

Position: Midfield

College choice: Temple University

Club affiliation: Dynamite Lacrosse

Major lacrosse honors: 4 year varsity starter, All PAC 10 Girls Team (2012 season), 2012 Times Herald All-Area Lacrosse Team, PAC 10 All Conference Honorable Mention (2011), Pottstown Mercury All Area First Team (2012)

What will you major in/study: Undecided

Why did you choose school: “When I stepped onto the Temple campus I felt at home. I was hesitant about choosing a school in the city, but Temple had a different feel. There is so much pride built into the school and that is what sold me. Everyone that is affiliated with the school absolutely loves it, and I am so eager to be a part of that. The lacrosse program is well established and the coaching staff has a plan to continue to grow and become more successful and assured me that I can be a huge part of that. I like that the school is close to home and that it provides me with tons of opportunities. Everything just felt right.”

Outlook for your high school team in 2013: “This upcoming season should be our most successful one yet. We have so much returning talent as well as some new members of our team that are only going to bring strength and skill to the field. We are anticipating to go further than last year and we know what we have to do to get there. Our goal is to win every game, one at a time, and to stay focused on all of the little things.”

Other comments: “I have to thank my parents. Not just for my success in lacrosse, but for making me who I am. They give me so much support, it’s unbelievable. I also want to thank all of my coaches. They have been incredible throughout my career and are going to continue to guide me to success as I move forward.”
