From Press Release

Bryant University senior longstick midfielder Mason Poli (Downingtown East) was selected by the Charlotte Hounds in the fourth round of the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft, held Friday night in Philadelphia.

Poli, a Preseason Inside Lacrosse Third Team All-American entering the 2013 season, was picked No. 27 overall and the fourth of Charlotte’s nine selections after finishing last season as the top offensive longpole in the nation (25 points off 19 goals and six assists).

A two-time USILA All-America Honorable Mention honoree and 2012 Tewaaraton Trophy semifinalist, Poli was widely regarded among the top long poles in Division I last season, as the Pennsylvania native added 44 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers to his impressive offensive statistics. Poli finished the year with a pair of hat tricks, including three tallies against then-No. 20 Yale, and a game-winning goal as a junior.

The 6-foot, 225-pound pole also earned First Team All-Northeast Conference and First Team All-New England accolades for the second-straight season in 2012, and enters his senior campaign with 56 caused turnovers and 128 ground balls in his career to compliment 30-career goals and nine-career assists.

Poli is the third Bulldog to be drafted into the MLL, joining the Long Island Lizards’ Andrew Hennessey (’10) and the Denver Outlaws’ Zack Greer (’09). He was one of two former members of the 2007 state champion Cougars to get drafted Friday as Maryland attackman Owen Blye (24th pick) also went to Charlotte.
