From Press Release

Turkey Lacrosse has been recruiting highly experienced lacrosse players and enthusiasts to help spread the game in Turkey, and the latest addition is one of the most well-known names in lacrosse. Turkey Lacrosse is excited to announce the addition of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) professional, Kyle Sweeney, to the Board of Advisors.

Sweeney (Springfield-Delco) graduated from Georgetown University, where he majored in International Business and Marketing. He has won 4 MLL titles – three with the Philadelphia Barrage – has been selected for 7 All-Star games, and played on the 2006 and 2010 U.S. national teams. He also starred for the Philadelphia Wings.

Off the field, Kyle is the Chief Operations Officer of Maverick Lacrosse, a lacrosse equipment manufacturing company, as well as the co-founder of Gotham Lacrosse, a league dedicated to organized post-collegiate lacrosse. Kyle is optimistic about Turkey Lacrosse’s goals and is excited to help in any way he can.

“Lacrosse has been so influential in my life and opened countless doors,” Sweeney said upon his appointment to the board. “It is truly a driving factory in all facets of my life. If a fraction of the doors that opened for me can open for a Turkish player, I will be happy.”

“The Turkey Lacrosse Board and I are thrilled that Kyle is willing to help our program in terms of his extensive knowledge of the game not only as a player but also as a businessman,” says Patrick Dougherty, founder and Executive Director of Turkey Lacrosse. “Kyle is a true gentleman of the sport.”

Turkey Lacrosse will hold the Turkish National team tryouts in late June, immediately followed by a friendly match with the Israeli team in July. In September, Turkey Lacrosse will host Turkey Lacrosse Open 2013 in Alanya, and plans to have 16 men’s teams and 10 women’s teams competing.
