The Rutgers University women’s lacrosse team added nine members to its 2014 roster, head coach Laura Brand-Sias (Radnor) announced on Monday.
Rutgers secured commitments from Kelsey Cuje (Fair Haven, N.J.), Kristina Dunphey (Hillsborough, N.J), Rachel Engler (Perkiomenville, Pa), Ryann Hogan (Skillman, N.J.), Nicole Kopyta (Oakland, N.J.), Margaret Nissen (Moorestown, N.J.), Macy Scott (Toms River, N.J.), Delaney Tuite (Malvern, Pa) and Amanda Turturro (Farmingdale, N.Y.).

Prior to Rutgers: Four-year varsity letterwinner for Academy of Notre Dame de Namur … Delaware County scoring leader list 2011 and 2012 … All-Inter-Ac First Team selection in 2012 after being named to the second team in 2011 … All-Mainline Second Team selection in 2012 … Philly Showcase All-Star … Philadelphia PASLA national tournament team member … All-Delaware County Honorable Mention in 2011 and 2012 … Played club with Phantastix Lacrosse.
Brand-Sias on Tuite: Delaney is a nice all around player with good ball control. I believe she has just started to tap into her potential, so I am really excited to watch her develop once she enters the college game.
Rachel Engler M Boyertown Area Senior High/Perkiomenville, Pa.
Prior to Rutgers: Four-year varsity starter for Boyertown Area Senior High School … Two-time Mercury Player of the Year Honorable Mention … Lead the Bears to the second round of districts as a junior notching 70 goals, 24 assists, 42 ground ball controls, five draw controls and 15 caused turnovers … Earned PAC-10 All-Area First Team for the second-straight year, helping Boyertown to its ninth-consecutive PAC-10 title … Earned a spot on Philly 1 to compete in the Women’s National Tournament for the second-straight season … Started all 26 games as a sophomore, posting 78 goals, 15 assists and 37 ground balls … Five-time Pottstown Mercury Player of the Week … BASH Rookie of the Year after starting all 20 games … Played club with Phantastix Purple … An all-star selection at the Maximum Exposure Camp.
Brand-Sias on Engler: Rachel possesses outstanding skill and game sense and her aggressive play stands out. Her ability allows her to contribute in all aspects of the game and I expect her to make a big impact for us very early on.
Margaret Nissen A Moorestown/Moorestown, N.J.
Prior to Rutgers: Named an ESPNRise Underclassman to Watch for 2012 … Member of the 2012 undefeated (26-0) Moorestown High School squad … Won New Jersey Tournament of Champions and finished the season ranked as the No. 2 girls high school lacrosse team in the nation for 2012 … Member of the New Jersey South team in the Schoolgirls Division of the U.S. Lacrosse National Tournament … Named to the deBeer Fab 40 All-Star Team at the 2010 Philly Showcase … Played club with South Jersey Select (Pink 2013) … Club team was the 2012 champion of the Northern Rise Tournament and a previous winner of the Lax by the Sea Tournament.
Brand-Sias on Nissen: Margaret has one of the best sticks I have seen. Her skills look effortless and she has a nice finesse to her game. She responds positively to being pushed by her coaches, so I expect her to develop well in our system.
Kelsey Cuje M Rumson Fair Haven/Fair Haven, N.J.
Prior to Rutgers: Four-year letterwinner for Rumson Fair Haven … RFH lacrosse captain as a junior and senior … Named to the All-Shore Second Team as a junior … Top-15 goal scorer in the Shore … In 2012, tallied 87 goals and 33 assists, while scooping 84 ground balls, controlling 52 draws and causing 46 turnovers … Shore Conference Champion … Won the Group 2 Central Jersey State Section … Played club lacrosse with T3 Shore … Also a four-year letterwinner in soccer … Won the 2010 division in soccer and was named a senior captain.
Brand-Sias on Cuje: Kelsey is a fierce competitor with a huge upside. She is committed to her lacrosse development and her potential stood out to me right away. She has the athletic ability and dedication to have a nice career at Rutgers.
Kristina Dunphey M Hillsborough/Hillsborough, N.J.
Prior to Rutgers: Four-year varsity letterwinner for Hillsborough … Through three seasons, has tallied 133 goals, 20 assists, 81 ground balls, 72 draw controls and 34 caused turnovers … Scored 95 goals as a junior, tied for 15th in the state … Named Skyland Conference First Team honoree in 2012 and Honorable Mention in 2011 … Also named Somerset County All-Area in 2012 … Received team MVP in 2012 and Most Improved in 2011 … Played club lacrosse with Ultimate NJ … Starting point guard for the Hillsborough basketball team.
Brand-Sias on Dunphey: Kristina is a phenomenal athlete with a competitive fire. The sky is the limit with her, and I am excited to watch her grow over the next year in preparation for her time at Rutgers. Once she grasps our system, she should challenge for time early on.
Ryann Hogan D Montgomery/Skillman, N.J.
Prior to Rutgers: Four-year letterwinner for Montgomery High School … Courier News All-Area selection … First Team Skyland Conference honoree … All-Packet Princeton Packet … Named to the All-Stars Team by the Trenton Times … Played club with Ultimate New Jersey … Led her club team to an undefeated season in 2012 … Also a three-year letterwinner in soccer.
Brand-Sias on Hogan: Ryann is a very solid and technical defender that will mesh nicely with our current group. She is aggressive and competitive, while also maintaining solid defensive ability. She will be a nice addition to our defensive end.
Nicole Kopyta A Indian Hills/Oakland, N.J.
Prior to Rutgers: Four-year letterwinner for Indian Hills … Named the No. 25 overall recruit by ESPNRise as a junior … Selected First Team All-League and All-Bergen County in 2012 … Finished the season as the No. 1 goal scorer in North N.J. and No. 8 in the state with 105 scores … Holds the school record for most goals in a game (nine) and goals in a career (241) … Selected First Team All-League, Second Team All-Bergen County and named the All Suburban Girls Lacrosse Sophomore of the Year in 2011 … Received First Team All-League and All-County Honorable Mention as a freshman … Played club with T3 North … Also lettered in basketball and swimming.
Brand-Sias on Kopyta: I expect Nicole to have a very nice career at Rutgers. She has an outstanding stick and a rocket shot that is hard to find this early in someone’s development. Her desire to improve every time she steps on the field separates her from the pack and I am excited to watch her grow in her time ‘On The Banks.’
Macy Scott M Toms River South/Toms River, N.J.
Prior to Rutgers: Four-year varsity starter for Toms River High School South … Posted 155 career goals and 140 career draw controls … A two-time team captain … Selected as an All-American Honorable Mention … Named Third Team All-State, Second Team All-Shore, and Coaches All-Shore Division Team honoree … Scored 82 goals as a junior … Academic All-American selection … A Second Team All-Shore honoree as a sophomore … Played club with T3 Shore.
Brand-Sias on Scott: Macy is a true all-around player with an intense drive to succeed. She is committed to all aspects of her game and I know that will carry over into her career at RU. I expect her drive and ability to have an immediate impact on our program.
Amanda Turturro M Farmingdale/Farmingdale, N.Y.

Brand-Sias on Turturro: Amanda is a true competitor who has the athletic ability to contribute anywhere on the field. She has outstanding dodging ability and her speed and quickness will be a nice addition to our transition game. I trust that Amanda will have a successful career for us.
