Sweet’s Duxbury team won the Massachusetts Division 1 state championship last year with a decisive, 16-9 victory over St. John’s Prep of Danvers at Harvard Stadium.
It marked the eighth time in the past 10 years that the Green Dragons have taken home the state title, and it avenged a 13-12 loss to St. John’s in the championship game on the same field the previous year.
Sweet has taken the Dragons to the state finals 10 straight years. He has coached at Duxbury for 15 seasons. He also is founder and coach of the Sweetlax Club team and formerly coached at Massachusetts club power Laxachusetts.
