Villa Maria Academy junior defender Courtney Mertz has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Penn State University.

What will you major in/study? “I am undecided at this time but I have an interest in communications.”
Why did you choose the school? “I all around love Penn State. I love the team dynamic along with the coaching staff. I love the energy on campus!”
What is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “Well, we lost a lot of our seniors, but nonetheless still have a strong team. We have great chemistry and talent therefore I have high hopes for this season!”
Other comments: “I would like to thank my parents and family members for their love and support. Also, a big thanks to my PA Express coaches, Coach Ryan, Coach Parsons, and Coach O’Donnell for all their positive influence and guidance over the past few years. I am also thankful for my Villa Maria high school coach, Jess Lamay, who has pushed and supported me from day one. Lastly, thanks to my big sis, Jenna (JMU lacrosse #18) for being one of my biggest fans.”
