From Press Release

Friends’ Central School junior midfielder Emma Dahle, a resident of Wynnewood, has made a verbal commitment to begin the admissions process and play Division I lacrosse at Brown University. She will join older sister Becca Dahle (FCS ’12), who is currently a freshman on the Brown Lacrosse team.

Emma and Becca Dahle

A two-year standout on the Friends’ Central Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse team, Emma has been a prolific scorer and major contributor. Emma helped lead the Phoenix to back-to-back Friends Schools League championships in 2011 and 2012. (FCS also won the league championship in 2010.) Emma garnered First Team All-League Honors as a freshman and sophomore, and she earned First Team All-Main Line as a sophomore and Second Team All-Main Line as a freshman.

“Emma is a fierce competitor and has the ability to take over a game,” said Friends’ Central Head Girls’ Lacrosse Coach Lauren Becker Rubin (FCS ’83, Brown ’87). “She has a very mature and developed understanding of the game, sees the field well, and thinks several plays ahead. Emma has an incredible work ethic and is always looking for ways to get better.”

In her sophomore season, Emma became the first Phoenix player in school history to score over 100 goals in a season. She finished 2012 with 107 goals and 45 assists.

After her freshman season, Emma was recognized by PASLA (Philadelphia Area Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association) with the 2011 Rookie Award after registering 54 goals and 45 assists. With two-year totals of 161 goals and 90 assists, Emma now sits fourth on the Friends’ Central All-time scoring list with two full seasons to play.

“I am so excited to attend Brown and play for a program of its stature,” says Emma. “To be able to play with Becca, makes it ten times better.”

Becca Dahle was a four-year starter and standout for the Phoenix. She graduated as the most decorated girls’ lacrosse player in FCS history, earning First Team All-League, All-Main Line, Honorable Mention All-American, Phillylacrosse.com High Honorable Mention and Academic All-American honors. The Dahle sisters will reunite on Brown’s lacrosse field for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Adds Rubin, “Emma is a natural leader, who is not afraid to put herself out front in critical game situations. She doesn’t shy away from responsibility, and has earned the respect of her teammates, coaches, and opponents.

“Emma also possesses all the intangibles that make her such an exceptional athlete. She has a huge heart, tons of determination, and an incredibly upbeat and never-quit attitude. I think Brown University will be a great academic and athletic fit for Emma. In the meantime, I’m really looking forward to having her as part of the FCS Lacrosse program for two more seasons.”
