Longstreth girls’ recruit: Springfield-Delco junior defender Verica commits to Johns Hopkins

Springfield-Delco junior defender Emily Verica has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Johns Hopkins University.

College Choice: Johns Hopkins University

Club Affiliation: Phantastix 2014 Purple

Major lacrosse honors: Philly Showcase All-Star (2010),National Tournament Philly 2 Team (2012), Honorable Mention All-Central League (2012), Maximum Exposure All-Star (2012)

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose Johns Hopkins? “Hopkins was the best fit for me athletically and academically. It’s the perfect place to play top level lacrosse while receiving a world renown education. Between the coaching staff and the team, I really felt like the Hopkins family was the place for me.”

Outlook for your high school team next season? “We head into every season with high expectations and I think this year is no different. We’re returning a lot of really talented players from last year and we all are ready to work hard.”

Additional Comments: “I want to first thank my Mom, Dad, and Brother for always supporting me and driving me to all of my games and tournaments. I want to thank my Springfield coaches Keith Broome, Kathleen Geiger, Chrissy Poplawski, and Sandy Carter and my Phantastix coaches Sue Frazier, JoAnn Yusko, and Lorraine Beers; also, all of my Springfield and Phantastix teammates.”
