The Philadelphia Wings have announced that their captain’s Defenseman Academy schedule next weekend (Oct. 27-28) has been revised to meet the needs of a very busy fall for area families.
The Academy will run on Saturday and Sunday at Shipley School, 9am-3pm for just $295 (top value) or new registrants can also choose a 1-day option, either Saturday or Sunday, for $175. There also was a 3-day option, but that is sold out.
This unique academy will include 12 hours of instruction, play and workshops. Merrill will present an NCAA recruiting workshop on Sunday near the end of the day.
Hosted by the Shipley School, Bryn Mawr, PA, this program is designed to focus on the skills required by every defenseman to excel in their position. The academy will be held October 27-28, 2012 on the turf fields of Shipley’s mainline campus for boys ages 8-to-18.
Registration is first come, first served and out-of-town players are welcome.
This defense academy will focus on developing lacrosse “IQ”, strengthening stick and footwork skills and more. This event for 2-day registrants will begin Saturday 9am-3pm; concluding on Sunday from 9am-1pm, followed by an NCAA recruiting workshop from 1-3pm for players ages 13 and up.
Players from New York to Maryland are expected to participate along with area high schools and prep schools. Each participant will receive a Wings pinnie and lanyard; there will be prizes given away courtesy of Reebok.
The event is sponsored by the Philadelphia Wings and Reebok Lacrosse. This specialized skill development camp is for defensemen who want to take their game to another level.
Camp Objectives include:
*Game IQ, presence, leadership
*NCAA recruiting process seminar
*Reebok gear giveaways
*Bonus: Athlete’s nutrition workshop.
The event is being run in conjunction with the Mark Duncan Goalie Stick Work/Shooting Clinic. Both clinics will combine on Sunday for 2 hours.
* Players shall provide their own equipment (helmet, stick, chest/arm protection, cleats, cup, mouthguard).

Merrill is the head coach and Director of the Hill Academy Men’s Lacrosse team which is highly regarded as one of the top Lacrosse programs in North America.
