Maple Zone boys’ recruit: Penn State gets commitment from Carey (N.Y.) sophomore attack-midfielder Spillane

Carey High School (N.Y.) sophomore attack-midfielder Nick Spillane has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Penn State University.

Major lacrosse honors: Freshman starter, All-County selection 2012, Long Island Showcase (Nassau), National Invite 175

Academic Honors: Academic All-Conference, Carey High School Honor Roll

What will you major in/study? Business

Why did you choose PSU? “I chose Penn St because of the balance of academics and athletics. I knew once I stepped onto the Penn State campus that I would fit in perfectly with the players and the coaching staff.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next season? “Every year we look to compete for a County Championship. We return a lot of key players from last year’s team so we feel very confident going into the year.”
