Boyertown junior midfielder Haley Wentzel has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Lehigh University.

Haley Wentzel log:

High School: Boyertown High School

Graduation Year: 2014

Position: Midfield

College Choice: Lehigh Unviersity

Club Affiliation: Dynamite 2014

Major lacrosse honors: Boyertown Varsity Starter from Freshman year, Undefeated PAC-10 Champions (2011 & 2012), 1st Team All PAC-10 (2011), 2nd Team All Area (2011 & 2012), Boyertown Rookie of the Year as a Freshman (2011), MVP of the ATW Delaware Exposure Camp (2012), All-American Showcase Division Champions (2011), Under Armour Underclassman Team Philadelphia (2012)

Academic honors: Honors and High Honors Freshman and Sophomore Years

What will you major in/study? Education

Why did you choose Lehigh? “I chose Lehigh because it is the perfect school for me, and everything I was looking for in a school seems to come together at Lehigh. It has the perfect combination of strong academics and athletics. The campus is great, it is beautiful, and just the right size. I love the coaches, and the lacrosse program and as soon as I stepped onto Lehigh’s campus, I knew it was my school! All around I just love Lehigh and I couldn’t be any more excited to be a part of the lacrosse team!”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “I think the whole team can’t wait for it to be lacrosse season! I think this year our goals are to win the PAC 10 Championship for the 10th year in a row, and to make it through Districts and further into States than ever before. It would be amazing if we could come out this year strong and become one the top teams in states and districts! Personally, this year I would like to become more of a leader for my team in both the midfield and attack.”

Additional Comments: “I would like to thank all of my coaches: Pam Wernersbach, Aamina Thornton, Amara Thornton-Brown, Yusuf Brown, conditioning coach Jeff Harrison and Maureen Burger for not only making me a better lacrosse player, but for supporting me through the whole process.

“Plus, I could not have done this without the complete support and love from my entire family, and Audrey Nettles. All these people really shaped the player and the person that I am today, and I could not have done this without them!”
