5K Run-Walk

The Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation’s 5K Run/Walk, Hatboro-Horsham High School, Saturday, September 22. The 5K run is in its second year and was established to remember Edward Coombs and Robert Nagel (from Horsham) who lost their lives in a tragic car accident on August 6, 2011. The ETC Foundation was established with the intent of providing outstanding scholar/athletes financial assistance to pursue higher education goals, so that they can reach full potential. You can register for the event at the ETC Foundation Website: http://etcfoundation34.org/2nd-annual-team-ecrn-5k-run. Registration forms must be mailed in. You can also sign up the day of the event. Registration opens at 8:00 am and race starts at 9:00 am. There is a pre-registration event at Maple Glen Pizza (641 East Welsh Road in Maple Glen, PA) on September 14th from 4pm – 7pm.

Future Protectors Leadership 5K Race/Walk
, 9 a.m. on Sept. 30 in Northeast Philadelphia at 3100 Red Lion Rd. to benefit a new charter high school that is focusing on children who want to enter the public safety profession: police, fire, EMS, military and the intelligence community. A portion of the proceeds are being donated to the Survivors Benefit, and the US Navy SEALs Foundation. One of the racers will be Philadelphia Wing standout Brett Manney of NXTsports, which is donating two free weeks at Manney’s lacrosse camp next summer to the first two high school finishers. Registration is $25.00 for pre-registration, $35.00 the day of the race and $15.00 for students aged 18 & under. Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. Parking is on Red Lion Road. Phillies Game

HEADstrong Foundation’s inaugural tailgate in conjunction with Blood Cancer Awareness Night, Wednesday September 26, in partnership with the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. The Philadelphia Phillies will host the Washington Nationals and first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. This will be the last home regular season series for the 2012 Philadelphia Phillies. The BYOB tailgate will be sponsored by Zac’s Hamburgers and will be located in the Jetro Cash-n-Carry Parking Lot located at 700 Pattison Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. The Jetro Parking Lot is located adjacent from the Citizens Bank Park and left of Lincoln Financial Field. The Jetro Parking Lot is being presented as the Preferred Parking Lot of the HEADstrong Foundation and parking will cost $10.00. Admission to the Official HEADstrong Tailgate will be $15.00. The Official HEADstrong Tailgate will begin promptly at 4:00PM and conclude at 7:00PM. Food provided by Zac’s Hamburgers will be served from 4:30PM-6:30PM. Golf Outings

The Philadelphia Lacrosse Association’ 20th PLA Golf Classic, Monday, October 8th, White Manor Country Club in Malvern. This will support the PLA’s mission to promote the game of lacrosse in the region, particularly our New Start Program, which provides technical and financial assistance to new lacrosse programs. The PLA has provided close to $300,000 in grant support to new lacrosse programs in the area since the outing’s inception in 1993. The PLA also is accepting sponsorships to help ensure the outing’s success. Among other things, all sponsors and their logos (and websites) will be featured prominently on the home page of the PLA website. Reserve your spot by completing the registration form and returning it to Scott Growney (2012 PLA Golf Classic, c/o Scott Growney, 235 Keller Road, Berwyn, PA 19312) as soon as possible, but in any event before Monday, October 1st. If you are not a golfer or cannot attend the golfing activities, you are welcome to attend the cocktail reception and banquet that begins at 5:45 pm. HEADstrong Lacrosse Club’s inaugural Tee Off Against Blood Cancer, Friday, October 26, Springfield Country Club. Click here for registration. A cost of $127.00 per golfer will apply which includes a post golf luncheon, use of practice and locker-room facilities, on-course refreshments, contests, prizes, bag handling, cart/greens fees and a special HEADstrong gift. For supporters not interested in golfing, tickets for the luncheon are available for $50.00 per person and will be sold at the event. There will be a shotgun start promptly at 9:00AM and the luncheon reception will begin at 2:00PM.
Sponsorship opportunities are available for business’s interested in supporting the effort. The Lime Sponsorship Package inclusive of a foursome, prominent tee box signage, sponsorship acknowledgement during the luncheon program and in post event press materials is available for $700.00 and traditional tee sponsorships and memorial signs are available for $100.00. The Master of Ceremonies for the event is Philly lacrosse standout Brian Dougherty, the head coach at Chestnut Hill College and special guest speakers include Haverford School coach John Nostrant, La Salle College High and Chesapeake Bayhawks assistant coach Tony Resch (also Wings legendary player and coach) and Princeton coach Chris Bates.

EVANFEST has raised more than $500,000 for families that have a child with a life-threatening disease. It was created to honor the memory of Evan Brady, a youth lacrosse standout who showed courage and dignity while battling osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) for several years until passing away at the age of 19 (his jersey number) in 2005.
EVANFEST draws more than 40 boys’ youth lacrosse teams in the U-15 and U-13 divisions. Teams mostly come from Chester and Delaware Counties. The day will bring surrounding communities together to further the sport of lacrosse and to help raise money to donate to families to help defray the many costs involved in this monumental fight. Already, more than 130 families have been helped through EVANFEST. Last year more than $100,000 was raised.
