The Edward Taylor Coombs Foundation will host a 5K Run/Walk at Hatboro-Horsham High School on Saturday, September 22.

The 5K run is in its second year and was established to remember Edward Coombs and Robert Nagel (from Horsham) who lost their lives in a tragic car accident on August 6, 2011. The ETC Foundation was established with the intent of providing outstanding scholar/athletes financial assistance to pursue higher education goals, so that they can reach full potential.

A second goal of the foundation is to work with high school students around the issue of “responsible decision making” through seminars, forums, videos and other educational programs.

The Race Directors of this year’s 5K event are Connor Kreston and Katie Rigotti. Kreston played lacrosse his freshman year with both Coombs and Nagel on the Hatters lacrosse team. Katie Rigotti is a neighbor of the Coombs family.

The Race Directors have been organizing volunteers, sponsors and gathering donations to create awareness for the foundation and maintain the high standard that was set last year by Jackie DiPietro (Coombs’ girlfriend) and Connor Nagel (Robert Nagel’s younger brother). Last year the race drew over 800 participants and raised over $18,000.00.

You can register for the event at the ETC Foundation Website: http://etcfoundation34.org/2nd-annual-team-ecrn-5k-run. Registration forms must be mailed in.

You can also sign up the day of the event. Registration opens at 8:00 am and race starts at 9:00 am. There is a pre-registration event at Maple Glen Pizza (641 East Welsh Road in Maple Glen, PA) on September 14th from 4pm – 7pm.
