From Press Release

Loyola University women’s lacrosse coach Jen Adams has announced that five student-athletes will join the program in the fall and comprise the Class of 2016.

Shannon Aikens (Baltimore, Md./Mercy), Maddy Blakeman (Vero Beach, Fla./Saint Edward’s School), Katrina Geiger (Drexel Hill, Pa./Haverford High), Maddy Lesher (Gladwyne, Pa./Archbishop Carroll), and Molly Wolf (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr) will play for the Greyhounds.

Katrina Geiger, the Phillylacrosse.com Girls’ Co-Player of the Year in 2012, finished her career at Haverford High as the school’s all-time career leader for goals (320), assists (117) and points (437). She was a US Lacrosse and Under Armour All-American, and was the first player in school history to have their number retired. She was a three-time all-league first-team selection, was named the Player of the Year by the Daily Times in 2012 and was the Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Delaware County Chapter of PA Sports Hall of Fame.

Maddy Lesher helped Archbishop Carroll to four Philadelphia Catholic League titles in her four years. A team captain, Lesher earned All-Phillylacrosse.com, first-team All-Delco, All-Main Line and All-Catholic honors as a senior in lacrosse. She also earned first-team All-Catholic honors as a junior, while garnering second-team honors from the other publications. Lesher served as a student ambassador at her high school from 2009-10 and was a Pennsylvania Academic All-State selection in 2011.

Shannon Aikens, the daughter of the late Diane Geppi-Aikens – a former Loyola head coach, comes to the Greyhounds from Mercy High School. The team captain was named the Most Valuable Player of her high school team as a junior and a senior, after leading the squad in points both years. She also helped the team to the IAAM Conference Championship as a junior, earning IAAM All-Conference honors in 2011 and 2012. Aikens’ sister, Jessica, also played lacrosse for Loyola from 2006-10.

Maddy Blakeman is a three-time US Lacrosse All-American from Saint Edward’s School in VeroBeach, Fla. A Wendy’s High School Heisman winner, Blakeman broke her high school’s scoring record three years in a row for goals in a season (71) and finished her career as the all-time leading scorer with 245 goals. A two-time team captain, she also earned four first-team all-district honors and three-straight first-team all-league distinctions. In addition, she was selected as a finalist for the National Schoolgirl Lacrosse award, an award that recognizes the 10 most outstanding schoolgirl lacrosse players in the nation in spirit as well as athletic ability.

Molly Wolf comes to Loyola from The Bryn Mawr School, where she was a three-time Under Armour All-American. The Baltimore Messenger’s Player of the Year in 2012, Wolf was ranked the No. 2 goalie and No. 12 player overall in the ESPNHS Class of 2012 Top 100. She was also a US Lacrosse All-American in 2012, was named the Varsity Sport’s Network Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 and earned Baltimore Sun All-Metro honors as a junior. In addition to being an IAAM All-Star, she also earned Raven’s Champion and Baltimore Sun Athlete of the Week honors throughout her career.
