Applications are being accepted for the inaugural National Invitational Fall Select 175.
This one-day showcase event will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Loomis Chaffee High School, Windsor Conn. – about 10 miles north of Hartford.
Held on the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving, 175 players in each class will be selected to compete from the applications and recommendations. Players will be assigned to teams and play in three games. Games will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
More than 50 colleges attended the showcase’s predecessor event, the National Invitational 175 held June 28-30 at Union College in Schenectady.
“This past summer we hosted our first showcase, the National Invitational 175 and considered it quite successful,” said National Select 175 founder Marty Sands. “We were very pleased with the quality and number of college coaches that attended, the quality of the players that competed, and the overall venue.
“The feedback we heard from the coaches in attendance was that it was well worth recruiting at, and many players are now very likely on the radar of schools they may or may not have considered in the past. The showcase was designed to build awareness of great players to college programs/college coaches and the summer event certainly did that. The Fall showcase will likely continue to build on that momentum.”
Tournament organizers include former UMass coach Ted Garber, Darien (Conn.) varsity coach Jeff Brameier and Long Island Express director Mike Chanenchuk.
There is no charge to apply. Those invited will be notified by Sept. 7.
