From Press Release

Rutgers head coach Laura Brand-Sias (Radnor) announced that Maggie Tamasitis (Boyertown) has been named to her staff as an assistant coach. Tamasitis arrives “On the Banks” after a sensational career as an attack at Notre Dame.

“Maggie boasts outstanding credentials as a successful player at our level,” said Brand-Sias. “I am confident she will be able to relay her experience and work ethic to our players as we strive for a Big East Championship. Her passion for lacrosse and her excitement towards learning everything and anything about the coaching profession is noticeable as soon as you meet her. I am excited about what Maggie brings to The Banks.”

“I could not be more excited to be coaching at Rutgers University,” said Tamasitis. “It is a great feeling to be closer to home and back in the Big East. I am excited to learn from and have a great experience with both Laura and Lisa (Ojea) and enjoy my new experience at a great university.”

An IWLCA Second Team All-American, Tamasitis broke numerous school and Big East records for assists as a senior. The Boyertown native dished out 59 helpers in her final season to end her career as UND’s all-time leader in assists (151), as well as smashing the season (59), Big East games (31), game (eight) and half (five) records.

Tamasitis tied the school mark for the most consecutive games with a point (51), spanning from the first game of her sophomore year to her senior season. She finished her career in fourth place in school history with 228 points and tied for second in games played with 76.

Tamasitis racked up the awards as a senior for the Fighting Irish, as she was named First Team All-Big East and IWLCA First Team West/Midwest All-Region honoree. The attack earned All-Tournament Team honors from the league after recording three points in the semifinal round vs. Loyola.

The recipient of the 2011-12 Notre Dame Club of St. Joseph Valley Rockne Student-Athlete Award, the team captain was also a 2011-12 Rosenthal Leadership Academy participant. A strong proponent of community service, Tamasitis traveled to Alabama to help with the cleanup efforts following the April 2011 tornado that hit Tuscaloosa.

Tamasitis was an All-Phillylacrosse.com First Team and US Lacrosse All-American pick in 2008 when she paced Bears to the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship and scored 92 goals while adding 38 assists.
