Strath Haven rising senior goaltender Ted Bergman has committed to the admissions process at Wesleyan University (CT). Bergman is the first Philadelphia lacrosse player in the class of 2013 to commit to a Division III school.

Ted Bergman log:

Ted Bergman

High School: Strath Haven High School

Graduation Year: 2013

Position:
Goalie

College Choice: Wesleyan University

Club Affiliation:
Twist Lacrosse

Major lacrosse honors:
Central League Honorable Mention, School Save percentage record holder (72%), Two-Time Captain

What will you major in/study?
Government/Political Science

Why did you choose Wesleyan? “I chose Wesleyan first and foremost because of its academic reputation. It is a place where I can challenge myself both on and off the field. When I sat down with Coach (John) Raba on my visit, I knew that this was the team and the coach that I want to play for, and the place where I want to go to school. The NESCAC is a very competitive conference, which will allow me to compete against the best teams and athletes in the nation week in and week out.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year?
“I think that our team is going to have our best season in years. We return almost our entire offense and we have a strong defensive core as well. It will be difficult working with a new Coach, but I think that we will come together and have a memorable season.”

Other comments:
“I would first like to thank my Strath Haven head coach Dave Waldman, and his assistant Mike Miller. I would also like to thank Twist Coaches Greg Flego, Jack Devlin, and Joe Serio. Another word of thanks to my former Rebel Elite coach Harry Sankey and a special thanks to Haverford School coach John Nostrant. Finally, none of this would be possible without the support of my friends, especially Steve Brodeur for all his help, my family, parents, and brother Phil for their total and ongoing support.”

Maple Zone Sports and Fitness Complex, the official sponsor for Phillylacrosse.com Boys’ Recruits, congratulates Ted Bergman. Maple Zone, located on Conchester Pike in Boothwyn, offers numerous programs, leagues and instructional activities for boys’ and girls’ lacrosse players and also offers boys’ U13 and U15 travel teams.
