The Bucks Select 2013/2014 Red team had to battle the heat and some of the top club teams in the United States at the Hero Tournament on Saturday, June 30th in Malvern, but ended the day as undefeated champions.
“The entire team played well today” said head coach John Hiron. “The guys really came together and played team lacrosse, and we won because our guys were more aggressive and were just in better shape than our opponents and handled the extreme weather much better than the other teams did.”
Bucks cruised through pool play, outscoring its opponents 22-3 with wins over Team 302 Select (5-1), Triple Threat Lacrosse (6-1) and York Legacy Elite (11-1). In the championship game, it came up a very good team from 380 Lacrosse but claimed a 6-4 win to take the championship.
“These summer tournaments are a test of your lacrosse ability as well as your mental and physical stamina, especially when the weather is as brutal as it was on Saturday” added Hiron. “Our guys showed that they have what it takes to win when you’re battling both the elements and high quality opponents.”
