Pennsylvania-Philly high school, middle school teams gear for Brine National Lacrosse Classic in Maryland

The 2012 Brine National Lacrosse Classic, sponsored by Brine Lacrosse begins Saturday at the Maryland Soccerplex in Boyds, Maryland, with teams from Pennsylvania, largely comprised of Philly players.

Entering its 5th year, the Brine National Lacrosse Classic has quickly established itself as one of the premier college recruiting lacrosse events of the year.

The event will feature many of the top 400 high school underclassmen boys and 160 underclassmen girls from regions throughout the country. Championship-style tournaments will be held with winners being crowned on Tuesday following pool play on Sunday and Monday. U19 National teams from Australia and Canada will play exhibition games against the high school regional teams as they prepare for the 2012 World Games in Finland this summer.

There are 16 boys’ teams entered. There also are teams from New Jersey, the West, Washington D.C., Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New England, Maryland, Carolina, Long Island, Rochester, Syracuse, Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia.

There are eight girls’ teams entered. There also are teams from New Jersey, the West, Washington D.C., Maryland, New England, Long Island and Syracuse.

Also, Middle School teams from Pennsylvania will compete in the Lacrosse Academy on Saturday and Sunday.

Participating players have been selected by high school coaches from regional qualifiers conducted throughout the United States over the past 7 months. Over 220 uncommitted players from the 2015-2014 graduation class will showcase their skills for NCAA lacrosse coaches and scouts.

The Brine National Lacrosse Classic also features a diverse group of players from over 31 states, Australia and Canada.

Brine Lacrosse will be on-site with their mobile trailer seen at the NCAA Final 4 Championships featuring the latest Brine performance equipment, footwear, uniforms and apparel. Lacrosse.com and Grassroots Sports will provide Brine event related merchandise for sale. Brine will conduct shooting, goalie and stick stringing clinics throughout the event. MLL professional player personalities will be available for meet-n-greet.

The PA boys’ team is being coached by Strath Haven mentor David Waldman. The PA girls’ team si being coached by former Germantown Academy and Northwestern standout Colleen Magarity.
