Philly girls rebound to finish 1-1 in opening day of Under Armour Underclassmen Games

The Philly girls rebounded from a tough opening-game loss to Washington D.C. by downing the Midwest, 12-9, today in the annual Under Armour Underclassmen Games at Towson University in temperatures that exceeded 100 degrees.

Kristen Hansen (Strath Haven) scored three goals and Julianne D’Orazio (Merion Mercy) added two goals and one assists while Meg McGillis (Conestoga) scored twice for Team Philly in the win over the Midwest. Melina Avery (Harriton) had nine saves and fellow goalie Alexandra Lista (Mount St. Joseph) had two saves. Olivia Nostrant (Merion Mercy) had seven groundballs and three draw controls.

In a 16-8 loss to Washington D.C., D’Orazio scored twice.

Team Philly will play Long Island Saturday at 9:45 a.m. and then close pool play at 1:15 vs. the West.
