Boys’ youth lacrosse: U15A, U13A and U11B teams wanted for 5th Annual Patriot Games on July 21-22

June 28, 2012 by Chris Goldberg

The Patriot Games Lacrosse Showcase (July 21-22) has three open slots and is looking to add one team in each of the U15A, U13A and U11B brackets. This very popular and well run boys’ lacrosse tournament, which is in its 5th year, takes place at three venues in the heart of beautiful and historic Bucks County, PA.

The event attracts the top club teams looking to test themselves against a diverse field of elite programs from other regions. Many clubs view the event as a chance to punctuate their summer travel season with a grand finale.

“The Bucks County locations provide a convenient forum at the crossroads of major lacrosse hotbeds, including Maryland, New England, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania,” said Chris Bates, Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Princeton and one of the Tournament Directors. “Teams from the east coast hotbeds support our event each year, but the Tournament draws talented contingents from Canada and emerging regions of the country, including Delaware, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Wisconsin. We are pleased that our first Native American team, Six Nations from Ohsweken, Ontario, will be joining us the year in the U15AA bracket. They should be fun to watch!”

The Patriot Games has the distinction of being the only tournament in the Philadelphia region or Eastern Pennsylvania selected by NDP Lacrosse as an “Official Qualifying Event” for the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions, which will take place outside of Tampa in January 2013. Top finishing teams in selected divisions will earn bids to join other top club teams from around the nation to compete in the high profile, national championship event.

Interested U15A, U13A and U11B coaches can obtain more information about the event on the Patriot Games website, www.patriotgameslax.com, and should contact Pat Carney, a Tournament Director, at Patrick.carney@verizon.net as soon as possible, first come first served. The teams will join close to 200 that are registered and ready to compete in the Tournament’s youth and high school brackets. The Tournament promotes a palpable “Honor the Game” message. Regardless of the outcome on the field, teams and their entourage will be acknowledged for their collective sportsmanship, based largely on sportsmanship scorecards kept by the event’s certified officials.

If you are a U15A, U13A or U11B team looking for action in a top end-of-season tournament that is professionally staged in a beautiful setting not far from historic sites (i.e., Washington’s Crossing), particularly an event that is widely regarded for great competition against a diverse set of teams, please let us know soon. We are looking for you!

We can assure you a great weekend of lacrosse and camaraderie in a fun and festive atmosphere that will feature a strong array of teams, food, refreshments, Vendor Village, a Fan Zone and fastest shot and stick trick competitions.
