The win sets the stage for a showdown with No. 11 Wales on Monday at 5:00 PM local time. Wales is also 3-0 in group play after securing wins against France, Norway and Slovakia. The winner of Monday’s match receives a bye to the quarterfinals.

Norway led 2-1 after the first quarter, but Israel scored six straight goals to take command of the game.

“I’m really proud of the way we played in the second half today,” said Israel assistant coach Mark Greenberg. “We’re hopeful we can maintain the momentum and continue to play at a high level against the top teams in Europe.”

Altschuler (7 saves, 3 goals against) and Ben Levine (3 saves, 0 goals against) split time in goal for Israel; Altschuler was credited with the win. Richard Cheifitz led the blue and white attack with four goals, while Jesse Kane recorded three goals and Michael Pfeffer scored twice. Alex Jacobs and Jack Jacobs each added singles.

Christian Roness, Didrik Abrahamsen, and Laycock Thomas Erkki scored for Norway.

In addition to the Wales match, Israel’s men’s and women’s festival teams debut on Monday with two games apiece.
