Henderson senior Katelyn Fay was recently recognized for her significant accomplishments on the lacrosse field by having her number 14 retired at the school’s senior Awards banquet.

Katelyn Fay had her No. 14 jersey retired at Henderson's Senior Banquet

Fay, who plays attack, finished her career as the all-time scorer in Henderson history – boys or girls – with 436 points on 334 goals and 102 assists. She was an Honorable Mention US Lacrosse All-American and a first-Team all-Ches-Mont League pick who led the Warriors to a second-place finish this year.

“Obviously I’m thrilled for Kate and her family for the retirement of her jersey at Henderson. This honor is not only a tribute to her talent as a lacrosse player but also a reflection of a lot of hard work and dedication on her part over the past four years,” said Henderson coach Kim Jackson. “To leave Henderson as the leading goal scorer (334) and career points (436) male or female is a huge accomplishment and special thanks must go to the administration of Henderson for recognizing this.

“Without the support of her teammates these numbers wouldn’t be possible so the whole honor is really a team effort. I’m really proud of Kate and glad I could be a part of her high school career.”

Fay will continue playing at La Salle University.

Fay is the second Philly girls to have her number retired this year. Other was Haverford High’s Katrina Geiger.
