Conestoga High School held its boys’ lacrosse banquet on Sunday morning, 18 hours after its third straight Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Lacrosse Championship in a 10-7 win over La Salle College High School at Hershey.
Coach Brian Samson said, “This State Championship is the result of a great culture that surrounds this program. Without the continuous support of the parents in this room Conestoga would not be the program that it is. The players are a direct result of that culture and I’d like to thank all of you.”
Offensive Player of the Year went to Tyler Brooke, senior attackman, heading to the University of Maryland.
Defensive Player of the year went to senior defenseman Jamie Ikeda, heading to Duke University.
The Pioneer Award, to the player that embodied the work ethic and spirit of an American Pioneer, went to Jordy Klunder, senior playing for Drexel University next year.
The Ball Hawk Award went to Jared Jacobs, a senior that stepped into the main face-off role when needed; he will be playing for Kenyon College.
The Herzlich Family Award is given to the player that portrays the highest characteristics of the student athlete in the areas of scholarship, athleticism and citizenship and went to senior Adam Goins, heading to Notre Dame.
The Coaches Award went to senior Connor Frisina, who will be playing for the University of Delaware.
The MVP Award voted on by players and coaches went to Miles Thomas, long stick midfielder going to Drexel University; and to Bradlee Lord, going to the University of Maryland.
“This group of seniors is really special to the program and special to me,” said Samson, noting that he will graduate 21 seniors. “I have known some of these families for a long time and to end with a game like this is awesome.
“The senior played so well and the underclassmen played like seniors.”
