The Radnor boys’ lacrosse team is making its first appearance in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament – and the Red Raiders are making some noise.

All-American Mike Barnes won all eight of his first-half face-offs to help Radnor jump to a 5-1 halftime lead and the Raiders coasted to a 12-3 victory over Manheim Township Saturday in the PIAA quarterfinals at Exeter High.

Radnor (18-7) has won six of seven playoff games after entering the District 1 tournament as the third seed out of the Central League. On Tuesday, at a time and site to be determined, the Raiders get to meet two-time defending state champion and league rival Conestoga in the semifinals.

Radnor has dropped two games to the Pioneers this year – 7-4, and 13-6.

Ben Junior led Radnor with four goals on Saturday while Barnes won 11 of 13 draws and Peter Donato had two goals and two assists. Shane Shapiro had two goals and one assist and Alex Manderack had two goals. Brendan Manderack made 10 saves.

Manheim Township, the third seed from District 3, closed at 19-7.
