Public League girls’ semifinals: George Washington, Girls’ High to meet for title on Wednesday

George Washington and Girls’ High will meet in the Public League Girls Lacrosse Championship game at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gratz Supersite after winning their semifinal contests this afternoon at the Gratz Supersite.

In the first game today, #1 seed George Washington defeated #4 seed Delaware Valley Charter, 20-4. Ten different players scored for George Washington while Katrine Metelkova led the assault with four goals, and Veronica Gonzalez and Kayla Biddick contributed three goals each.

Sanie Augusta led the scoring for Del Val with three goals. Breana Wilson had an outstanding day in goal for the Warriors ending the day with 24 saves.

In the second game, #2 seed Girls’ High beat #3 seed Mastery Charter, 14-3. Tenee Pina scored seven goals for Girls’ High, and Somaly Kim added five goals while Chastity Mills contributed the remaining two goals.

Kiana Davis had 13 saves in goal for Mastery. Unique Davis had two goals and Angie Moore scored the remaining Mastery goal.

The Public League Boys Lacrosse Championship game – featuring George Washington and Northeast – will also be played on Wednesday at the Gratz supersite following the girls’ game, with a 4:45 start time.
