Tuesday’s Delaware boys’ high school state tournament roundup

Below are recaps of first round games of the 2012 Delaware Boys State High School Tournament.

Salesianum School 15, St Andrews School 1

The Sals of Salesianum, on 5 goals by Sean Giampietro, 4 goals by Troy Reeder and 3 by Bailey Martin, claimed a 15-1 win over the 14th seed Saints of Saint Andrews School at Baynard Stadium in Wilmington, DE. For the Saints at 5-11, John McIntosh scored the only goal. Saves in the nets for the Sals, Matt Barone (9) and for the Cardinals, Benjamin Egan (15.

Tower Hill 16, Sussex Tech 4

6 goals by David Kullman and 4 by Ross Bolling paced the 2nd seed Hillers of Tower Hill at 14-2 to a 16-4 win over the Ravens of Sussex Tech. For the Ravens at 9-7, 1 goal each by John Redefer, Michael Bateman, Jordan Dill and Dylan Baker. In the nets for Tower Hill, Steve Kullman with 1 save and for Sussex Tech Nelson Lopez, 13.

Archmere Academy 12, Brandwyine 6

4 goals by Connor Beatson and 2 by brother Ryan Beatson paced the #4 seeded Auks of Archmere Academy at 14-2 to a 12-6 win over the 13th seed Bulldogs (9-7) of Brandywine. For the Bulldogs in the loss, Matthew King led with 3 goals. In the nets for Archmere, Davis Russell recorded 14 saves and for Brandywine Adam Browne recorded 16 saves.

Charter School 12, Polytech 9

4 goals by Dave Rathmanner, 2 each by Andrew Rombach, Andrew Kearns and Robert Johnston paced the 8th seed Force of The Charter School of Wilmington at 12-4 to a 12-9 win over the 9th seed Panthers of Polytech. For the Panthers, at 11-5, Nicholas Slater led with 3 goals and teammate Konlon Winder recorded 2 goals. In the nets for Polytech, Brian Chilas recorded 9 saves and for Charter Marshall Parks had 11 saves.

First Round Wednesday’s Games:

5-16 11th seed 11-4 Dover at 6th seed 10-5 Wilmington Friends, 5:00 pm. Salesianum will take on the winner
5-16 16th seed 8-6 Appoquimink at Top Seed 14-1 Caesar Rodney, 7:00 pm. Charter will take on the winner
5-16 12th seed 11-4 Delaware Military Academy at 5th seed 10-5 St. Marks. Archmere will take on the winner
5-16 10th seed 11-4 AI DuPont Tigers at 7th seed 10-5 Cape Henlopen. Tower Hill will take on the winner.
