Monday’s high school highlights: SJ Prep downs St. Augustine in overtime; GFS girls win Friends League semifinal

Nick Ellis scored the game-winner in overtime as host St. Joseph’s Prep defeated St. Augustine Prep, 10-9, today in non-league boys’ lacrosse at St. Joseph’s University.

The Prep closed its regular season at 12-6 and will head into the Catholic League playoffs as the No. 2 seed.

Joe Walsh led the Hawks with three goals and an assist and Pat Walsh scored three goals. AJ Simon made 12 saves and Will Jordan won 14 of 21 face-offs.

Pat McMenamiin had four goals for the Hermits (10-5) and Mike Sutton score dtwice while Steve Pontrello dished four assists and Tommy O’Neill had a goal and three assists.

Archbishop Ryan 15, Roman Catholic 4

Ryan clinched third place in the catholic League as Kevin nelms had four goals and three assists and Steve Buchinsky added three goals and two assists.

Annie Morrissey scored eight goals to lead Germantown Friends in its Friends League semifinal victory

Girls
Germantown Friends 18, Moorestown Friends 8

Annie Morrissey erupted for eight goals and an assist and Iris Williamson collected three goals, four assists, four groundballs and four draw controls as top-seeded GFS advanced to the finals of the Friends Schools League championship with the win over Moorestown.

The Tigers (17-2 overall) will host the winner of today’s semifinal between Friends’ Central and Shipley on Friday at 4 p.m. in the finals.

Isabella DiDio added two goals and two assists as well as five draw controls for the Lions. Hannah Drake had two goals and three ground balls and Claire Schmidt scored two goals. Sophomore defender Caroline Myran came up big with two draw controls, three caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Notre Dame 20, Germantown Academy 16

Kristen Bandos collected eight goals, one assist and five draw controls to lead the Irish to the Inter-Ac League victory. Carlianne McCabe added five goals and three assists and Courtney Donovan had three goals and six draw controls.

For GA, Kelly Stack had four goals while Brooke Kiley and Hannah Bogorowski each had three.
