Phillylacrosse.com Boys’ Rankings: Regular season winds down to final week; champions crowned

The final week of the regular season has arrived and teams are clinching league championships while jockeying for position for top seeds in the district and Inter-Ac tournaments.

This week’s rankings:

1, Haverford School (17-1) – The Fords can finish off a perfect Inter-Ac League season today by defeating Episcopal Academy at home. Prev: No. 1

2, Conestoga (14-3) – The Pioneers can wrap up a perfect Central League season and claim the title outright by winning tonight at Garnet Valley. Prev: No. 2

3, La Salle (12-4) – The Explorers can wrap up the top seed in the Catholic League playoffs this week. Prev: No. 3

4. Downingtown West (16-0) – The Whippets an clinch their second straight Ches-Mont League championship and finish the regular season at 18-0 this week by downing Bayard Rustin and West Chester East. Prev: No. 4

5, Episcopal Academy (15-4) – The Churchmen close their regular season today at Haverford School and will take the No. 2 seed from the league into the Inter-Ac Invitational. Prev: No. 5

6, Lawrenceville School (13-3) – The Big Red had a great week, downing Deerfield Academy (Mass.), 7-6; Hill School, 10-9, to take over the lead in the Mid-Atlantic Prep League; and St. Augustine Prep, 12-7. Prev: No. 6

7, Germantown Academy (9-8) –The Patriots have won four straight games and are peaking at the right time. They could really make some noise in the Inter-Ac Invitational. Prev: NR

8. Pennsbury (15-1) – The Falcons swept Abington to clinch the Suburban One National Conference title. They have a big test Thursday at No. 10 Central Bucks East. Prev: No. 7

9, St. Augustine Prep (10-4) – The Hermits saw their four-game winning streak snapped in a 12-7 loss to Lawrenceville. Prev: No. 8

10, Central Bucks East (14-1) – The Patriots, who look to clinch at least a tie for the Suburban One Continental Conference title, host No. 7 Pennsbury on Thursday. Prev: No. 9

Honorable Mention: Bishop Shanahan (12-4), Downingtown East (11-5), Garnet Valley (13-3), Hatboro-Horsham (14-2), Henderson (14-2), Malvern Prep (6-9), Penn Charter (10-11), Penncrest (13-4), Ridley (14-3), Salesianum School (10-2).
