PA Media Girls’ Lacrosse Rankings: Great Valley takes over No. 1 spot

May 1, 2012 by Chris Goldberg

Phillylacrosse.com, Posted 5/1/12

Great Valley has taken over the No. 1 spot in both the PIAA and All Schools divisions of the PA Media Girls’ Lacrosse Rankings released today.

The Patriots, who improved to 13-0 last week, received six first-place votes in both polls and piled up 96 points. Former No. 1 Garnet Valley – which had held the top position all year – had four first-place votes and 92 points, good for second place in both polls.

Each week a panel of 10 journalists from around the state and the Mid-Atlantic region ranked Pennsylvania’s top teams. The panel includes Chris Goldberg of Phillylacrosse.com, Dennis C. Way of the Norristown Times Herald, Scott Johnston of EmmausSports.com, Matthew Blymier of the Lancaster Intelligencer, Karen Sangillo of the Bucks County Courier Times, Harry Chaykun, formerly of the Delco Times, Brad Spahr of the Daily Local News, Dave Assad of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Evan Burgos of the Inquirer and Matt Chandik of the Delco Times. The poll is compiled by Goldberg.
