Air Force freshman Keith Dreyer (Malvern Prep) has been named the ECAC Lacrosse League Offensive Player of the Week, as released by the league on Monday. It marks the second career weekly award for Dreyer, who was named co-rookie of the week earlier this season.

An attack from Malvern, Pa., Dreyer led the Falcons in scoring in a pair of victories this past week, compiling 10 points on seven goals and three assists. He tallied a career-high four goals in an 11-8 win over Jacksonville on Tuesday while registering three goals and three assists in a 20-4 victory against Mercer on Saturday. Against Jacksonville, Dreyer scored two of his goals just six seconds apart in a 5-0 third period run that sparked the Falcons’ victory. He played limited minutes versus Mercer, notching five of his six points in the first period.
Dreyer, who leads the Falcons’ offense with 38 points on the year, is now just the third Air Force player in the past 13 seasons to register over 20 assists in a single season, and the first to do so as a freshman.

Sarah Magnone leads New Haven

Sarah Magnone (Vila Joseph Marie) poured in six goals to help new Haven topple No. 3 C.W. Post, 19-18, on March 28. New Haven (7-1) is ranked No. 7 in division I and Magnone leads the teams with 31 goals and 7 assists.

Ray is CACC Lacrosse Player of the Week

Philadelphia University’s Emily Ray, Philadelphia (So., A/M, 5-8, Bedminster, N.J.) was named CACC Player of the Week.

She scored 14 goals while adding two assists for 16 total points during the Rams’ 3-0 week that included wins over Kutztown, Wilmington and Post. She put together a pair of six-goal efforts in wins over Post (4/1) and Wilmington (3/29). Also added two groundballs and won two draws.

University of Delaware Women’s Lacrosse Freshman Caitlin McCartney Earns CAA Rookie of the Week Honors After Six-Goal Week

Behind a six-goal week, University of Delaware freshman midfielder Caitlin McCartney (Archbishop Wood) was tabbed as the women’s lacrosse Rookie of the Week in the Colonial Athletic Association for the second time this season.

Despite Delaware (2-9) falling in a 0-2 week, McCartney (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) battled in each game in an attempt to help lead the Blue Hens to victory, scoring six goals on the week.

In Delaware’s showdown at Denver on Apr. 6, the Hens trailed 7-1 at halftime and nearly made a comeback in the second half, outscoring Denver 8-6 in large part due to McCartney’s efforts.
McCartney led the way with a game-high four goals, all of which came in the second half as she notched her third career hat trick.

The freshman fought to the final seconds of the game with a goal at the 0:15 mark, but it would not be enough despite a gutsy second half effort. She took eight shots on the day, all of which were on goal, and went 2-of-2 on free position shots.

In the Hens’ CAA opener at Towson on Sunday, McCartney scored twice and dished out one assist for three points as the Tigers edged out Delaware, 10-8.

Overall on the week, McCartney won seven draw controls, scooped up six groundballs, and caused two turnovers to aid the Blue Hen effort.

White Selected Patriot League Midfield Player of the Week; Sophomore earns third weekly award of 2012 campaign

Sophomore Ana White (Strath Haven) has been named the Patriot League Midfield Player of the Week after her performance in a pair of victories last week. The award is White’s third of the season and fifth of her career.

White, a Biology major, led Lafayette to wins over San Diego State and Bucknell and scored the game-winner in each contest. Against the Aztecs, White set a career-high with seven points (4 goals, 3 assists), while also controlling eight draws.

In Lafayette’s triumph against Patriot League foe Bucknell, White continued to fill up the stat sheet with her four-point effort. The Swarthmore, Pa. native scored three times, collected two ground balls and grabbed seven draws to remain the nation’s leader in draw controls per game with 6.38.
