Maverik Lacrosse has released “Baiting,” the latest instructional video in the Maverik University series starring 2011 MLL Goalie of the Year and Maverik Athlete Drew Adams, a former Springfield-Delco and Penn State standout.

In this video, Adams shares several advanced goaltending methods and explains how he uses different baiting techniques. Adams focuses on positioning and angle play to win the mental game between the offensive player and the goalie.

“Baiting” is valuable for any goalie that is looking to progress and play at a higher level. Click here to view “Baiting” on Maverik Film’s YouTube channel and make sure to visit the Maverik Lacrosse Facebook page for the latest gear, news and updates on all Maverik athletes.

“An important part of improving your play in goal is watching and learning from other players and adjusting these techniques to your own style of play,” commented Adams. “Even at the professional level, I am constantly refining how and when to use different techniques in goal, especially baiting the shooter.”

Adams earned numerous accolades while playing at Penn State University. He was named ECAC goalie of the year three of his four years, he was a three-time All-American and remains the all-time save leader at Penn State. Upon graduation in 2009, Adams was drafted 19th in the third round of Major League Lacrosse draft by the Long Island Lizards and in 2011 was named Goalie of the Year.

In high school, Drew played at Springfield-Delco for coach Mike Friel where he garnered All-American honors and was named the Philadelphia Player of the Year his senior year in 2005.

“Goalies are often some of the most intelligent and athletic players on the field,” said John Gagliardi, founder and President of Maverik Lacrosse. “Drew is a prime example of this as evidenced by both his success on the field and off in his professional career growing the Maverik brand.”
