The Shipley School has emerged as a small-school power that is hoping to flex its muscles against higher competition.
The Gators won their third straight Friends Schools League championship last year, going 16-3 overall. Shipley also won perhaps its biggest victory ever when it stunned Inter-Ac League foe Episcopal Academy in the first round of the inter-Ac Invitational.
During the past three years, Shipley has gone 49-8 (21-0 in league). Last year’s team produced the school’s first All-American (middie Julius Mouser, now at Cabrini College) and the team has won all five of its league titles in history over the past seven years.
This year, Gators coach Mark Duncan (an NCAA goal-scoring champion at Lehigh in 1997 who still is the school’s all-time leading scorer) has added former Haverford School great and Wings player and executive Dave Stilley and current Wing rookie standout Kevin Crowley to the staff.
The Gators are the favorite in the Friends Schools League as they gear for their opener Friday against visiting Wyoming Seminary.
The Shipley gear highlighted today includes:
Under Armour uniforms
Brine King III custom gloves
Cascade CPX-R helmet
Custom Brine Gear Bag
