Team Advil captured its first title ever recently by defeating Data Q Direct, 15-5, in the Summer Lacrosse League of Southeastern Pennsylvania Thursday night Master’s Division championship game.
Team Advil finished the season with a perfect 7-0 mark, outscoring its opponents, 74-26.
In the final, Advil jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead in the first quarter and stretched it to 8-2 at halftime. Vern Davis and Jack Heim were dominant at the face-off X and the offense controlled possessions throughout the half.
Advil continued to control play in the second half as Heim, Tom Rebeson, Mike Miller, Gary Mazza, Phil Gagliardi, Chris Bonnet, Billy Young, and Dave Waldman led the scoring parade.
The Team Advil defense also stood out. Stellar play came from Waldman, Brian Delayney, Mike Rhine, Brian Morris, Mike Cottone, Kevin Matthews and Steve Pizzi. Waldman, the current head coach at Strath Haven High School, also had two goals.
Anchoring the defense was goalie Gary Dudek, who made 18 saves and several at point blank range.
