From Press Release

Junior midfielder Mark Winkelspecht (Parkland) and sophomore attack Mike Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario) were selected as Preseason All-Americans by Face-Off Yearbook.

An annual publication produced by InsideLacrosse.com, Face-Off Yearbook serves as the primary preseason literature for intercollegiate lacrosse at all levels of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition. Both Griffins were All-East Coast Conference (ECC) Honorable Mentions in 2011 and are expected to lead Chestnut Hill College in their second season under head Coach Brian Dougherty.

While serving as a team captain, Winkelspecht totaled 26 goals and 18 assists for 44 points in his sophomore campaign. He tied for 39th nationally in goals-per-game (1.86) and also contributed 35 ground balls and six caused turnovers to Chestnut Hill College’s 7-7 season.

Melnychenko was crowned the Division II national leader in goals-per-game (3.57). In addition to earning an All-East Coast Conference (ECC) Honorable Mention, he was league’s Rookie of the Year, after totaling 50 goals and helping the Griffins to a 3-7 standing in the ECC. He finished the year with 57 points, 37 ground balls, and four caused turnovers.
