New Canaan (CT) junior defenseman Eric Persky is going through the admissions process after committing to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Pennsylvania.

Academic Honors: Honor Roll, Freshmen and Sophomore year
What will I major in/study: Undecided, most likely economics or finance
Why Did I choose UPenn: “It was the best fit for me academically and athletically. As an Ivy League school, UPenn is one of the top academic institutions in the country. Not only is it a top school in itself, UPenn also boasts the Wharton School of Business, one of the top undergraduate business schools in the country. As I am interested in potentially pursuing a career in business or finance, this was a major draw to me.
“The lacrosse team was another major point of interest. When I visited overnight, the team seemed like a great group of guys. They did a great job of making me feel comfortable and I could definitely sense that they were a tightly-knit group of guys. Along with being a great group of guys, the team is also a powerhouse on the field. They made the NCAAs last year, and hopefully will continue to do so. Overall, I found UPenn to be the school where I could best find success both on the field and in the classroom.”
Outlook for my high school team this year: “I have high hopes for my high school this year. We have the benefit of returning the majority of our starters, so we will be able to continue the chemistry we developed over the course of last season. We will be fielding an older, more experienced team; one that I think can find great success during the upcoming season.”
Other Comments: “I would like to thank my parents; they not only allowed me to make my own decisions throughout the recruiting process, but taught me to make the best choices in life. I also appreciated the long hours they spent on the road, driving me to various tournaments and camps. I would also like to thank my high school coach, Alex Whitten, for giving me countless opportunities to succeed over the course of the season, as well as helping to put me in contact with the coaches I was interested in.
“Finally I would like to thank my club team coach, Bill Rabbitt, who also gave me many opportunities over the last few summers and helped me get the exposure I needed to get recruited.”
