Downingtown West senior attackman Dylan Ikkala has made a commitment to play Division III lacrosse at McDaniel College.

Dylan Ikkala log:

Dylan Ikkala

High School: Downingtown West

Graduation Year: 2012

Position: Attack

College Choice: McDaniel College

Club Affiliation: Team Philadelphia Elite

Major lacrosse honors: Ches-Mont honorable mention, member of Ches-Mont League champions and state qualifier in 2011

Academic honors: Distinguished Honor Roll, National Honors Society Member, AP and honors student

What will you major in/study? Undecided

Why did you choose school? “I was looking for a small private school that has a good balance of academics and athletics. Coach (Matt) Hatton and the assistants were very nice and have a good outlook on the future of their program. The school is also in a great location with Baltimore only being a little drive away.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We are returning most of our starters but lose our All-American goalie, but our senior goalie this year should be ready to step up. Overall we should be pretty good and compete in the state playoffs again in 2012.”

Other comments: “I want to thank my parents, high school coaches (Tom Hannum, Bill Holenstein, John Hochhaus), and middle school coach Ray Beneke for giving up their time to coach. Also, my brothers for standing behind me the whole way and helping me make this big decision.”
