For five seasons now, Penn’s women’s lacrosse team has enjoyed life at the top of the Ivy League. Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances have become the norm, with five total Ancient Eight titles – and four outright crowns – to head coach Karin Brower Corbett’s resume in the last five seasons. As the Red and Blue prepare for the 2012 season and a shot at winning a sixth straight crown, Corbett will add seven student-athletes to her roster as members of the Class of 2015.

The group – which is comprised of student-athletes from players hailing from New Jersey and New York – features three players listed as defenders and four players slated to join the midfield. Two players – Leah McBride and Lindsey O’Loughlin – were teammates at Oak Knoll High School in New Jersey, leading their team to the 2011 New Jersey Prep A state championship. Two members of the Class of 2015 were high school All-Americans – Washington Township’s Taylor Foussadier and Meg Markham – while six players were Academic All-Americans.

An accomplished group – combined the Class of 2015 has won 22 conference, county and state championships – the newcomers bring the championship pedigree needed to continue Penn’s run atop the Ivy League.

“We are very excited about the newcomers to our program,” head coach Karin Brower Corbett said. “We have built a strong tradition here over the past few years, and after watching this group during fall practices and scrimmages, I am looking forward to seeing them in action this spring. They are an athletic group, and at the same time determined and competitive. They will make their mark on Penn lacrosse in quick fashion.”
