Men’s recruit: Millbrook School (NY) senior goalie Gabrielsen to rediscover Philly roots at Drexel

Millbrook School (NY) senior goalie Will Gabrielsen has made a verbal commitment to play Division I lacrosse at Drexel University.

Gabrielsen is the nephew of former Wings great and Philly youth/club coach Scott Gabrielsen, who played with Drexel coach Brian Voelker as a member of the Wings for seven years. Will Gabrielsen’s club coach, Tri State’s MV Whitlow, also played with Scott Gabrielsen on the Wings.

Major lacrosse honors: All Western New England, High School Team Captain, Team MVP sophomore year.

Academic honors: Honor Roll, Member of community service trip to Guatemala as a part of Safe Passage

What will you major in/study?
“As of right now I am undecided, but I am leaning towards either Business or Engineering.”

Why did you choose school?
“I chose Drexel because of the great coaches who I am very excited to play for, the location, being in Philadelphia is very appealing because it is a great place where I also have family ties and family nearby. It’s also a great school with many great programs that will help me after college. Lastly, playing top level D1 is something I have dreamed about my whole life.”

What is your HS team’s outlook for next year? “We are looking very strong, we have a large senior class and we are hoping to make this a very memorable season for the program, and we hope to become one of the elite teams in New England.”

Other info: Gabrielsen wears No. 8, the same number worn by his uncle on the Wings.
